Who Killed the Electric Car
Just watched a great film last night called 'Who Killed the Electric Car', directed by Chris Paine and narrated by Martin Sheen. Saw some very dedicated and smart people fighting a real David and Goliath battle with the big car manufacturers. I'm not sure how many people knew that the electric car has been killed off (replaced by the elusive fuel cell technology that apparently won't be here in the next 20 years unless several miracles occur. Besides, who's up for paying $1,000,000 for a new car?). I have seen Toyota EV Ravs driving around the city and kept thinking that it wouldn't be long before they caught on (electric is really the perfect car for city driving since the average distance we drive a day is about 30 miles). There is at least a semi-positive ending to the movie so that we can all hope the country is not going to be taken over by the Hummer.
Anyway, really worth seeing the moving. You can download it on MovieLink.com. Some more information on the film on this short video:
Maybe driving smog belching gas engine powered vehicles will go the way of cigarette smoking and instead of carpool lanes we'll have 'exhaust' or 'non'exhaust' lanes so you don't have to sit behind someone belching out carbon monoxide while you wait in traffic.
